If you ever get the chance to ride in a Sunseeker, don't turn it down. Blow off Mother's Day brunch, be hours late to your wedding, bag the Inaugural Ball, but by all means, take the ride. You will not be sorry. In deep trouble, perhaps, but not sorry.

The ride is that fine, the luxury that uncommon. The teak woodwork alone will blow you away.

Introduced in 2000, the Sunseeker Predator 56 reportedly continues that tradition. At 57'7"-long and 15'1"-wide, it is the smallest offering in the Predator line, which has several models including a simply spectacular 80-footer. According to company literature, the 56 was introduced to meet buyer demand for a more compact, but decidedly luxurious Predator model.

Sunseeker built a host of pampering, entertainment-oriented amenities into the yacht's upper salon. In addition to an eight-person U-shaped lounge, the area boasts a full wet bar with a built-in ice maker. For dining, the lower salon is outfitted with a fully equipped galley (everything from a microwave oven/grill to settings for six is included) and a folding table.

Overnight accommodations include a master stateroom and two guest staterooms. The master features its own in-suite shower room, as well as a double berth. Guest staterooms are likewise outfitted. Like all interior areas of the boat, the staterooms are air-conditioned.

At the helm station, there's a double-wide seat for the driver and a companion. All of the analogue instrumentation is set in walnut panels. In addition to a speedometer and twin tachometers, there is a depth sounder, a rudder indicator, a water tank gauge and more. Among the electronic goodies are radar, autopilot and a VHF radio. Single-lever engine controls should make driving easier, as should the boat's hydraulic power-steering system.

A queen-sized bed and rich wooden cabinetry are among the niceties in the master stateroom.

For shore excursions using a watercraft or dinghy, the manufacturer has included a hydraulically raised and lowered teak platform on the yacht's stern. There are fender stowage compartments between the aft-most seating area and the lifting platform to help make it safer and easier to retrieve fenders.

Twin-engine diesel power packages from Man, Volvo Penta and Caterpillar are offered for the Predator 56. Estimated top speed is 41 mph. Fuel capacity is 528 gallons.

Miss a chance at the Sunseeker Predator 56 and you'll be missing the boat. Literally.
